People We Miss

Nick and Melissa

Nick and Melissa are our friends from church. Once we moved out of our house and into the trailer, we became their neighbours: we lived in Nick and Melissa’s driveway for most of this past summer.

Isla, Jenson and Lincoln spent most of their summer playing with Eva, Mary, Jillian and Derrek… Digging holes in the sand, jumping on the trampoline, throwing apples to the donkeys (Darlene and Dylan) and the cow (Toonie), swinging on the play set and chasing chickens.

More Housekeeping…

We’ve added a map of the places we’ve been. Really, it’s just the towns we’ve parked in and slept. #HomeIsWhereYouParkIt. Scroll down to the the bottom of this site, and the map is there, just under our Instagram feed.

We’ve also added a day by day information page… Just places we’ve been and what we did in very. short. form. Click on the “Today we are in…” link at the top of the site and it will take you to the day by day page. We’ll try to keep each day updated, as well as each day’s current location in the link.

The Beast with those Four Dirty Paws

Listening to: Of Monsters and Men – Dirty Paws

One morning, about two weeks ago, I was preparing my coffee and took the sugar out of our pantry drawer–we stored it in a ziploc bag so that it would fit in its reserved spot in the drawer. As I pulled the bag out, the sugar spilled all over the floor from two holes on either side of the bag. I was instantly angered. I investigated the holes and they seemed to be bite marks… I looked into the drawer and discovered pee and poop everywhere. All over the cutlery, all over the kitchen utensils, all over the floor in the storage under the oven.

Reinvention.

We were driving to Atlantic Canada I was excited to spring up on the heels of my new found rejuvenation. After being sick on more than one front in Ottawa I was feeling better and had a new outlook on this time with my family and how to deal with the challenges. Also, the “reset” on my diet made me feel stronger. These feeling fade fast if not put into action, and the cravings also return.
It didn’t take too long before I was feeling some of those old stresses again. You don’t fix these things in a day, or week or even a month. I knew that even if I was hoping for a quick fix. In the past my fixes have been anything but quick.
